Chair Yoga is a modified form of Hatha Yoga, based on the Knoff Yoga System, which allows people with disabilities, lack of mobility, balance problems, joint challenges, recovering from illness, accidents and operations, or other physical issues, to participate in and enjoy the benefits of a yoga practice.With the “Baby Boomers” now entering retirement age‘en-masse’, this is a great time to learn special skills to teach an aging population.

The need for Chair Yoga Teachers will be huge and is just starting now. Pre-requisite: Regular yoga practice (any style of yoga)for a minimum of 12 months.

Healing Adjustments - the Art and Science of Adjusting Wisely

There are MANY different ways to adjust a yoga posture…there are FEW ways to adjust a yoga posture that is safe, respectful, effective and anatomically sound

• Learn what makes an adjustment safe and sound and the ingredients that make up a quality adjustment.

• Appreciate the differences that effect student’s abilities and limitations and learn how to respectfully accommodate these.

• Understand the difference of visual, auditory and kinesthetic (touch) cues to communication.

• Recognise the profound power of touch to educate, transform and heal.

• Know when it is appropriate to use verbal instruction, the guidance of light touch, hands-on corrections or body-weight adjustments.

• Learn adjustment principles that can be applied to a variety of postures within the main asana groups, eg, back bends, forward bends, twists, etc.

• Discover which postures are unsafe to adjust and understand why.

• Practice the art and science of adjusting on fellow yogis.

• Feel confident to guide, assist and enhance your student’s practice with beneficial, quality, safe and effective corrections!

Monica draws on adjusting principles from her professional education as a Chiropractor combined with her 39 years of personal yoga practice. Her insights as a therapist make this workshop powerfully relevant. Her teaching is guided by her passion to help others.

With each breath we shed the weight of collected conditioning and limitation. Slowly disentangling from internal dramas that create impulsive or unwanted reactions and behaviours. Breaking the patterns that cycle to the same outcomes and discontent.And ultimately revealing the natural self by the incremental removal of all that obscures it.It is mindful repetition of practice that permits thedepth and potency required to promote this healing and transformation.

7.00 - 7.30 - INTENTION: settling.
7.30 - 10.30 - TENSEGRITY : An informative primary series exploring principals of movement for freedom and longevity. 
10.30 - 11.00 - BYO: breakfast. 
11.00 - 12.30 - ACTIVE PHILOSOPHY: The integration of a seated practice.
Simple pranayama will evolve with sound and culminate in an expression of heart through mantra.
12.30 - 1.00 - OVERFLOW: please leave this time available in case we go overtime or there are questions.

8.00 - 8.30 - INTENTION: settling.
8.30 - 10.30 - PRACTICE : Clean conducted primary.

Patanjali yoga sutra will be introduced in an interactive and digestible form.
